Position: Solar Field Service Lead (Paris, TX)

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide.

Job Description Summary

This role is located full-time on a jobsite in Paris, TX. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Responsibilities and Duties
  • Stresses the importance that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working.
  • Able to perform all essential Field Service Technician Levels 1-4 job responsibilities.
  • Performs, directs, and supervises site maintenance, repair, troubleshooting as directed by management, adhering to company and industry safety standards.
  • Ensures a safe working environment through strict adherence to and enforcement of company and industry safety standards.
  • Implements repairs to unfamiliar solar equipment, systems and plants with a minimum amount of training and familiarization safely.
  • Directs and takes responsibility for safety regulations and work procedures for the team.
  • Understands, follows and communicates safety regulations and work procedures.
  • Supervises and provides ongoing training for Solar Technician Level I, II, III, and IV employees.
  • Prepares timely and accurate documentation and required reports related to site operation.
  • Assesses and suggests improved processes, collaborates on new technologies, and coordinates with EPC management regarding the implementation of these improvements.
  • Upholds diversity and inclusion as an unconscious part of SOLV Energy culture.
  • Responds “on‑call” as directed by supervisor to assist in emergency equipment repairs.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or equivalent, vocational/technical school training a plus.
  • Minimum four years of experience in solar facility maintenance and repair.
  • Demonstrates advanced computer operation skills and ability to operate system monitoring applications.
  • Advanced working knowledge of solar systems/plants, protection devices, control devices, power supplies, loads, conductors, inverters and transformers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network and telemetry issues.
  • Ability to pass an exam on international and domestic electrical schematics and symbols.
  • Ability to pass an exam on electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to pass an exam on reading and interpreting hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams.
  • Effective computer operation skills and ability to operate system monitoring applications.
  • Valid OSHA 30 certification.
  • Valid NFPA 70e Safety Training certification.
  • Remains current in all safety and technical trainings.
  • Demonstrates ability to be self‑sufficient and safe under any conditions.
  • Effective verbal and written English language communication skills.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Works well with PM, management, OCC, HV, SCADA, Performance, Networking/IT, Compliance teams.
  • Can work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather).
  • Can work on an “on call” basis (may include weekends or after‑hours situations).
  • Can work with other techs to complete tasks with these team members.
  • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicle.
  • Can assess safety items and issue Stop Work if concerns are raised.
  • Able to travel (up to 10%) for training, certifications, and site coverage.
Additional Skills or Experience Requirements
  • Ability to do monthly reporting for both maintenance reports and performance reports.
  • Ability to create and adhere to site specific schedules.
  • Knows complete site scope and contract.
  • Can prioritize levels of response to issues across the numerous plants in the region, and determine most effective use of resources available.
  • Works with the Performance teams to meet availability guarantees, and build risk management strategies to mitigate any shortfalls.
  • Interacts with various Asset managers and owner’s reps, such as creating and running conference calls, onsite meetings, and keeping them effectively connected with the operation of their facilities.
