We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Distributor Truck Driver to join our roadway construction team. This position is primarily focused on Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) highway and roadway projects and is responsible for operating an asphalt distributor truck to apply liquid asphalt, tack coat, prime coat, and other materials in accordance with TxDOT specifications and project requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience working on roadway construction projects and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Safely operate an asphalt distributor truck on TxDOT highway and roadway construction projects.
- Apply asphalt emulsions, tack coat, prime coat, and other liquid materials at specified application rates in accordance with TxDOT standards and project specifications.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete all required DOT and company documentation.
- Monitor spray bars, nozzles, pumps, gauges, and controls to ensure proper application and equipment performance.
- Work closely with project supervisors, paving crews, inspectors, and equipment operators to ensure project quality and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of material usage, application rates, and deliveries.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor troubleshooting of distributor equipment.
- Assist with other roadway construction activities as needed when not operating the distributor truck.
- Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and TxDOT requirements.
- Report equipment malfunctions, accidents, incidents, or safety concerns immediately.
- Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and project briefings.
- Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
- Ability to meet all DOT qualification requirements.
- Previous experience operating an asphalt distributor truck preferred.
- Experience working on TxDOT roadway construction projects strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of asphalt application procedures, roadway construction practices, and TxDOT specifications preferred.
- Strong understanding of equipment safety and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and travel as required by project needs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to climb, bend, kneel, crouch, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to enter and exit equipment multiple times throughout the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and rain.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods.
