Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineering
The Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining compliant process plans, bills of materials (BOMs), controlled documentation, and First Article Inspection (FAI) packages within an MRP/ERP system. This role ensures manufacturing processes meet AS9100, AS9102, customer, and regulatory requirements while supporting efficient and repeatable aerospace production.

Essential Job FunctionsCreate and maintain process plans, routings, and bills of materials (BOMs) in the ERP/MRP system in compliance with AS9100 requirements
Interpret drawing packages (blueprints, bubble drawings, parts lists, and specifications) to define manufacturing and inspection requirements
Coordinate with Engineering, Programming, Production, and Quality to resolve planning, manufacturing, and compliance issues
Develop detailed work instructions and job setup documentation for CNC machining, manual operations, and assembly
Create visual work aids for shop use, including digital photographs, CAD images, and sketches
Develop drawings and documentation to support in-process and final inspection activities
Create, review, and maintain First Article Inspection (FAI) packages in accordance with AS9102 and customer requirements
Ensure all planning and manufacturing documentation is properly controlled, approved, revised, distributed, and archived per AS9100 document control and configuration management requirements
Interpret and apply customer, military, federal, material, and aerospace industry standards and specifications
Support internal and external audits by providing planning documentation, FAI records, and objective evidence of compliance
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to planning accuracy, documentation clarity, risk mitigation, and process standardization
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Education & ExperienceExperience in a machine shop environment (required)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (minimum of 10 years) in aerospace manufacturing engineering or planning
Excellent blueprint reading and engineering drawing interpretation skills
Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying AS9100, AS9102, and aerospace/government specifications
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Required experience with CATIA software
Experience with
Epicor and/or other ERP systems preferred
