Position Title
NIAR Research Engineer - Full Scale Structural Test
LocationNIAR facility, Park City, KS (Wichita, KS for administrative purposes)
Employment TypeFull-Time
Regular Work HoursMonday-Friday 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m.; additional nights and weekends may be required.
A self-motivated engineer will conduct full-scale testing in a research environment, performing design, analysis, and hands-on work setting up and checking test setups. The role involves reviewing customer testing requirements, designing test fixtures using CATIA, directing laboratory activities, creating test plans and reports, coordinating with management, and ensuring schedule and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Review customer testing requirements and design test fixtures using CATIA.
- Direct laboratory activities including fabrication and assembly of test fixtures and setup.
- Prepare test plans, conduct full-scale testing on customer test articles, and produce test reports.
- Coordinate with management on all test activities, status updates, and schedule management.
- Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate engineering research assignments in a field of engineering.
- Formulate and conduct research on complex problems, define scope, and design studies.
- Develop model concepts, collaborate with principal investigators, and provide technical leadership and consultation.
- Assist with preparation of grant proposal materials to secure funding.
- Serve as investigator on multiple projects and manage research units as needed.
- Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. - Minimum Experience:
Two (2) years of related experience. - Knowledge of engineering drawings and ability to read and interpret them.
- Proficiency in designing structural and test fixtures.
- Strong time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to write test reports accurately.
- Aptitude to learn and take initiative.
- Willingness to perform hands-on work to create and verify test set-ups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Position requires U.S. Citizenship; must be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws (EAR/ITAR).
