We are seeking a detail-oriented CMM Operator to support precision manufacturing operations through accurate dimensional inspection and measurement. In this role, you will operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), perform product verification, and ensure manufactured components meet customer, engineering, and quality requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in PC-DMIS, Faro Romer Arms, CMM operation, dimensional inspection, blueprint reading, CAD/CATIA, metrology, and quality assurance who are looking to grow their careers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities CMM Operation & Inspection

Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to verify dimensions and tolerances of components and tooling. Set up, calibrate, and run PC-DMIS programs to support production and quality requirements. Utilize Faro Romer Arm equipment to perform portable dimensional inspections when required. Review manufacturing plans, engineering drawings, and digital models to determine dimensional and tolerance requirements. Select and install appropriate probes, perform machine setup, and complete required calibration activities.

Position and level parts on inspection equipment while ensuring protection of the part and measuring system. Record and analyze dimensional data using digital measurement systems and inspection software. Compare inspection results to design specifications and identify dimensional discrepancies. Perform manual dimensional inspections to validate measurements and investigate questionable results. Document nonconforming conditions and inspection findings in accordance with established procedures.

Create sketches and support inspection activities using CAD and/or CATIA software.

Equipment & Process Support

Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping on CMM equipment and inspection areas. Troubleshoot basic CMM issues and assist with problem resolution when needed. Report equipment, software, or material concerns to leadership in a timely manner. Support special projects and additional inspection activities as assigned. Perform Level II Quality Inspector duties when business needs require additional support.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM). Experience using PC-DMIS software for CMM operation and inspection. Experience utilizing Faro Romer Arms or other portable CMM equipment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements. Working knowledge of stationary and portable CMM equipment. Strong mathematical aptitude and understanding of dimensional measurement concepts. Experience using precision measuring instruments and technical software applications.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year of experience in dimensional inspection, metrology, quality assurance, or manufacturing inspection.
  • Technical school education, manufacturing certificate, apprenticeship, or related training.
  • Experience with CAD, CATIA, GD&T, metrology software, or quality inspection systems.
  • Manufacturing, aerospace, or precision machining experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Regular standing, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, crouching, and stretching throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and more than 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with machine noise, metal dust, and repetitive hand and arm movements.
