At the National Ability Center, people are our most important asset. We are looking for a Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Assistant to perform maintenance and complete projects pertaining to our buildings and grounds. The National Ability Center is located on a 26-acre ranch in Park City, Utah. We have satellite offices at the base of Park City Mountain and in Moab, Utah.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated with a strong work ethic and has great mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform repetitive tasks with well-rounded experience in all aspects of building maintenance, grounds‑keeping, and vehicle fleet management. Job Summary

The Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Assistant provides support for traditional buildings and grounds maintenance and improvement including but not limited to general building maintenance, landscaping, snow removal, project management, custodial work, and vehicle maintenance. This position is a full‑time, year‑round, in‑person position with benefits, and it requires occasional weekend and after‑hours work for projects and special events, as needed. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities
  • Check inventory and reorder basic housekeeping and maintenance supplies; provide basic custodial support to the office and program buildings.
  • Clean vehicles, schedule routine maintenance, and drive vehicles to and from service appointments, as needed.
  • Remove snow (plow, shovel, etc.) from roadways, parking lots, and sidewalks as necessary for staff and guests to be able to safely access campus throughout the winter.
  • Assist with maintenance and repairs to include, but not limited to: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry/drywall, landscaping/ irrigation, basic custodial tasks, vehicle/trailer repair, fence install/repair, painting, roofing, and pest control.
  • Ensure facility‑related equipment operates efficiently and effectively to ensure the greatest return on investment.
  • Ensure projects meet all relevant regulations and safety standards.
  • Work directly with volunteers to coordinate and supervise projects; ensure all related tools and materials are in place for project success.
  • Collaborate with and support all departments for programs and events to ensure all facility, maintenance, and equipment needs are met.
  • Assist with key fundraising events and other special events as needed to help advance program goals and support; serve as an ambassador and representative for the National Ability Center.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • 1 year of combined experience in building maintenance, custodial work, and grounds keeping.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Be able to maintain a Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) physical.
  • Must pass pre‑employment background check.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. We do not sponsor employment visas or other immigration processes to attain or maintain employment eligibility.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in many of the following areas: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry/drywall, landscaping/ irrigation, basic custodial tasks, welding, soldering, concrete/masonry, vehicle/trailer repair, painting, roofing, and pest control.
  • Experience operating various maintenance‑related heavy equipment and machinery.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Problem solving basic mechanical issues & ability to work independently.
