Overview:
The Multilingual Lead Teacher provides instructional leadership and operational support within the Multilingual (ML) program to ensure effective teaching practices, equitable access to curriculum, and strong student outcomes for emergent bilingual students. The role bridges classroom teaching and program‑level coordination by supporting teachers, collaborating on language development strategies, and assisting with program design and implementation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instructional leadership and operational support within the Multilingual (ML) program to ensure effective teaching practices, equitable access to curriculum, and strong student outcomes for emergent bilingual students.
  • Bridge classroom teaching and program‑level coordination by supporting teachers, collaborating on language development strategies, and assisting with program design and implementation.
  • Serve as a certified educator who maintains a partial teaching load while fulfilling collaborative, instructional, and managerial responsibilities under the direction of the Principal and/or designee.
  • Support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for ML/ELL staff and facilitate collaboration, data‑driven decision‑making, and implementation of language development strategies.
  • Model and coach high‑impact instructional strategies (e.g., scaffolding, sheltered instruction, academic language development) to improve student attainment.
  • Organize and facilitate department meetings to align multilingual programming, instructional coherence, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Principal and/or designee on scheduling and placement decisions for ML programming, ensuring equitable access to services.
  • Administer and schedule ACCESS testing, progress monitoring, and fulfill state and federal reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate articulation with partner districts, including feeder district transitions, placement, and programming.
  • Teach a minimum of one (1) class and a maximum of four (4) classes, or the equivalent, plus supervise as required.
  • Assist in resource planning for multilingual programs, including materials and language development resources.
  • Support data collection, reporting, and accuracy in the Student Information System (SIS) for ML student identification and programming.
  • Liaise with substitute teachers to ensure continuity of instruction for ML students.
  • Assist the Principal and/or designee with managerial and programmatic responsibilities to ensure effective functioning of the Multilingual program.
Qualifications
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an ESL or Bilingual Education endorsement (required).
  • Demonstrated expertise in language development, sheltered instruction, and high‑impact instructional practices for emergent bilingual students.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in technology systems including the Student Information System (SIS), Ellevation (or comparable language services systems), and Google Workspace.
  • Knowledge of state and federal requirements related to English learners (Part 228, ACCESS, etc.) preferred.
Reports To and Evaluation

Reports to:

Principal and/or designee. Performance will be evaluated annually by the Principal and/or designee following District 207’s certified staff evaluation procedures.

Salary & Benefits
  • 10‑month position.
  • 189 total paid work days: 185 days of base contract plus 4 days as Lead Teacher. Additional days may be paid at per diem rate as required.
  • Start Date:

    August 4, 2026 – End Date:
    May 26, 2027.
  • Compensation per collective bargaining agreement teacher salary schedule and a lead teacher stipend.
