The Instructional Supervisor provides leadership and coordination for specialized instructional programs serving students in Educational Life Skills (ELS) and Transition settings. This role ensures the effective implementation of Specially Designed Instruction (SDI), curriculum alignment, instructional quality, and compliance across assigned programs. The Instructional Supervisor serves as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative for IEP meetings in accordance with state and federal special education regulations and is responsible for the supervision, professional development, and evaluation of teaching assistants, as well as the support and evaluation of other assigned program staff.

The position emphasizes instructional leadership, staff development, and program coherence, ensuring that all students receive high-quality, individualized educational experiences that prepare them for independence, employment, and postsecondary success.

Performance Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Education in accordance with District 207’s administrative evaluation procedures and aligned with district priorities for student services, instruction, and compliance.

Qualifications
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1, speech language pathologist, school psychologist, or social work endorsement required.
  • Administrative endorsement (General Administrative, Principal, or Teacher Leader) required.
  • Completion of Illinois Performance Evaluation Growth Through Learning training modules (PERA-qualified).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching or related service experience in special education.
  • Demonstrated expertise in instructional leadership, curriculum development, and compliance with IDEA and ISBE regulations.
  • Knowledge of functional curriculum, transition planning, behavior intervention, and vocational training models.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and foster collaborative working relationships.
