The City of Park Ridge is seeking an experienced public-sector HR leader to serve as our Human Resources Director (part-time). This is a unique opportunity to provide strategic HR leadership, guide labor relations, and shape workforce strategy in a fast-paced municipal organization, while enjoying a flexible, part-time schedule.
Reporting to the City Manager, you will:- Oversee the City’s HR function and supervise two full-time HR staff
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on workforce strategy, compliance, and organizational effectiveness
- Navigate a dynamic labor relations environment with five collective bargaining agreements

Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in HR, public/business administration, industrial relations, psychology, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 5–8 years of progressive HR management experience in municipal/public sector settings, including supervisory experience
- Professional HR certification preferred (SPHR, SHRM-SCP, IPMA-CP, CLRP)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with discretion in handling sensitive matters
This position is ideal for a senior HR professional who wants to contribute at the executive level, leverage deep public-sector expertise, and maintain a balanced, part-time schedule.
The salary range for this position is $70 – $85.00 per hour. IMRF benefits are available when working more than 20 hours per week. This position is not eligible for health insurance benefits.
