Salary Range: $86,698 - $104,038 ** The City of Park Ridge typically hires at the starting point of the stated salary range; however, we value experience and qualifications and encourage all interested applicants to apply.
The City of Park Ridge is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Social Worker within the Park Ridge Police Department. This position plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families experiencing crisis, mental health challenges, domestic violence, and other difficult situations by providing intervention, advocacy, referrals, and short-term counseling services.
The Police Social Worker works closely with police personnel, schools, courts, healthcare providers, and community organizations to connect residents with appropriate resources and support services.
To ensure continuity of service and provide timely support to residents, this position is regularly scheduled to work evening hours.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to incidents involving individuals experiencing mental health crises or other critical situations alongside police personnel
- Provide crisis intervention, short-term counseling, advocacy, and referrals to community resources
- Assess individuals and families to determine appropriate services and support plans
- Coordinate access to services and monitor client progress
- Serve as a liaison between the Police Department and community agencies, schools, courts, and healthcare providers
- Maintain case documentation, reports, and records
- Attend court appearances and provide advocacy services as needed
- Assist with social service support during large-scale critical incidents
- Participate in on-call crisis response as needed
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field
- Minimum of two years of social work or related experience required
- Experience in mental health, domestic abuse, or crime victim advocacy preferred
- Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional (LCP) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) required
