Hiring salary - $16.00 hourly
Dates:
Seasonal employment Monday-Friday varying shifts 7:15 am to 5:45 pm
Location: 27J District School within Brighton city limits
NATURE OF WORKThe State Licensed Day Camp Program accommodates up to 125 children ages 6 to 15 years old. The camp runs daily, Monday through Friday, for approximately 9 weeks during the summer, with opportunities to work during the remainder of the year. Various training days prior to the start of summer camp are also required to meet state standards.
Essential Duties- Demonstrate, instruct, and actively supervise all activities and events for the group.
- Provide a safe and secure environment. Encourage and support positive behavior.
- Understand appropriate disciplinary techniques and document all incidents.
- Assist Leaders and Site Directors to observe the children and monitor the security of the building at all times to ensure the children's health and safety. Provide general first aid when needed.
- Comply with state licensing requirements under the direction of the Site Director.
- The Group Aide works directly with the Group Leader, reporting to the Site Director.
- Assist with creating and implementing interesting lesson plans.
- Engage in activities to demonstrate and encourage participation.
- Keep group attendance and know camper whereabouts at ALL times.
- Assure camp is kept clean throughout the day, maintaining supplies/equipment, and attend meetings/training.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
The candidate must be at least 16 years of age and pass a background check.
CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions are required within 60 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience with school-age children is desirable for the Aide position. Previous training in CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions preferred. Must complete training before the start of camp.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe candidate must have sufficient strength, agility, stamina and flexibility to move or carry up to 50 pounds, stand, crouch, kneel, bend and stoop while assisting children for long periods of time. The candidate must have adequate hearing and vision in order to discriminate between different sounds, objects, people and colors at near and far distances. The position also requires active participation in swim related activities.
