Under direct supervision of the Youth Enrichment Coordinator and Preschool Director- performs, assists, and leads a variety of youth activities for the Golden Parks and Recreation Department's Day Camp Program for children 2.5-12 years of age, Monday - Friday 7:30am-5:30pm, with a commitment of at least 9 out of 12 weeks during this timeframe. Required training will be Friday, May 29th, Saturday, May 30th, and Monday, Jun 1, 2026.
Performs a variety of childcare duties to include planning, organizing, guiding, implementing classes, activities, and special events on a daily basis. Under guidance of supervisor, assists and instructs camp participants as needed.
Follows and enforces all department and camp policies, rules, and regulations while maintaining a friendly and professional attitude. Provides a safe camp environment.
Maintains cleanliness of facility and organization of materials and equipment in accordance with Colorado Department of Human Services Rules Regulating School-Age Child Care Centers and Golden Parks and Recreation Department's policies.
Attends field trips under the supervision of a Day Camp Leader.
Communicates with the day camp staff to provide information about camp activities and camper successes and problems while maintaining a friendly and professional attitude.
Must be at least 16 years of age by date of hire. Work or volunteer experience with school-age children in areas such as education, day care, scouts, sports, and/or babysitting preferred. Must have strong organizational skills. Prior leadership experience involving organizational skills is highly desired. Must pass a State of Colorado sexual abuse background check and CB/FBI fingerprint criminal check.
Certifications, Licenses, RegistrationsFirst Aid, CPR and Standard Precautions Certifications required within 30 days of hire.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, community organizations, the public, and participants. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must be able to make sound judgments, exercise conflict resolution techniques and patience when dealing with stressful disciplinary situations.
OtherSkills and Abilities
Excellent customer service and childcare skills are imperative. Ability to interact with different age and interest groups and handle several activities and multiple tasks. Must make independent decisions and the ability to complete projects with minimal supervision.

Duties require moderate movement and physical effort;
discomforts and hazards are minor and controllable. The ability to swim is preferred.
