- Assist Construction Practice Leader, Senior Professional Engineers, and Project Managers to organize, manage, coordinate and complete the construction phases of projects with limited input
- Assist and lead business development opportunities by meeting with clients, teaming partners, and developing proposal responses
- Assist with monitoring the safety of construction group personnel on projects, assess quality of work, and ensure activities comply with industry standards
- Help develop strategies and implementation plans to improve and standardize operations to keep projects within budget and on schedule
- Implement, manage and evaluate operational processes and procedures, while maintaining consistency with the rest of the organization
Planning
- Formulate the Construction Practice direction and support strategic initiatives
- Participate in the development and implementation of Construction Practice Business Plans
- Participate in Leadership Training
- Assist with management of capital requests and the group’s annual budgets
- Assist Construction Leader, Professional Engineer/Project Manager in project scoping, task hour budgets, schedules, and fee proposals
- Develop performance measures that support the Construction Practice’s and company’s strategic direction
- Build professional relationships with potential clients and assist in maintaining SEH’s database for project opportunities
- Meet with clients to understand goals and communicate findings to the Construction Leader and stakeholders
- Identify and pursue sales opportunities through industry research, client outreach, site visits, and trade shows
- Develop knowledge of owners, developers, and other decision makers in target markets
Operations
- Participate in field activities involving normal to complex construction conditions
- Manage projects with documentation requirements related to Federal, State and Local funding
- Coordinate SEH tasks across multiple projects and territories
- Ensure on-site representation completes required tasks (RPR, documentation, material testing, survey coordination, etc.)
- Supervise and mentor other construction personnel
- Travel to project locations for staff quality audits and check-ins
- Monitor industry trends to inform business decisions and improve group strategy
- Implement safety and operational best practices, controls, and systems
- Provide reporting to the Construction Leader as needed
- Assist the Construction Leader with recruiting and hiring decisions for the practice
- Support risk management in the practice
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of CO
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret plans, specifications, technical documents, contracts or regulations
- Ability to write reports and communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong ability to influence others to align with growth initiatives and resources for project execution
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to identify and respond to business development opportunities
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with prioritization and scheduling
- Numerical proficiency for calculations and budgeting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project scheduling software
- Ability to learn construction administration software (e.g., AASHTOWare, One Office, Bluebeam, PMWeb Construction)
- Ensure compliance with SEH’s Quality and Safety standards
- Ten (10)+ years of construction industry experience
- Willingness and ability to travel long distances if needed to reach project sites
