Construction Safety Manager

A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead construction safety across active project sites. This role works directly with field leadership to enforce safety standards, ensure regulatory compliance, and reduce risk across ongoing operations. The Safety Manager holds field authority, including stop-work responsibility, and plays a key role in maintaining a proactive, accountability-driven safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce construction safety programs across project sites
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and all federal, state, and local safety regulations
• Conduct routine and unscheduled jobsite safety inspections
• Identify hazards and require immediate corrective action
• Maintain stop-work authority when unsafe conditions are present
• Lead investigations of incidents and near misses, including root cause analysis
• Deliver safety training, orientations, and toolbox talks
• Ensure employees and subcontractors are trained and certified for assigned tasks
• Maintain safety documentation, reports, and training records
• Track safety performance metrics and support continuous improvement

QUALIFICATIONS CHECK LIST

Required Experience

• 5+ years of construction safety experience (commercial construction required)
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards
• Demonstrated ability to influence superintendents, project managers, and subcontractors
• Experience leading safety investigations and corrective actions

Certifications (One Required)

• CSP (4+ years relevant experience), or
• ASP / GSP / SMS (6+ years), or
• CHST / OHST (8+ years)
