Position: K-8 Student Success Coach (School Counselor)

K-8 Student Success Coach

Reports To:

Academic Director

Primary Function:
The K-8 Student Success Coach focuses on the "how" of learning. Unlike a traditional tutor who focuses on content, this coach works directly with students to build the foundational brain-based skills such as organization, emotional regulation, and task initiation, which are needed to navigate the classroom. You will serve as a bridge between the student's potential and their daily performance, helping them build a "toolbox" for lifelong independence.

Hours:

M-F; 7:30 a.m.

- 4:00 p.m.

Start Date:

August/September 2026

Anticipated Salary: $58,000 - $70,000

Requirements and Certifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

Licensure:
Colorado teaching license, counseling license, or related credential preferred but not required.

Certifications:

CPI, SEL, behavior intervention, executive functioning coaching, or related training/certifications preferred.

Student

Experience:

Experience facilitating small groups, workshops, or student interventions preferred. Experience supporting students with executive functioning challenges, attention difficulties, anxiety, or learning differences preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience working with school-aged children in an educational, counseling, intervention, coaching, or related setting.

EF Expertise:
Deep understanding of the developmental stages of executive functions in children from ages 5 to 14.

The "Coach" Mindset:
Ability to build high-trust relationships without being "the disciplinarian." You partner with teachers and families in the student's growth.

Communication:
Strong ability to translate complex neurodiverse concepts into simple, actionable steps for students and parents.

Core Responsibilities

Executive Functioning (EF) Instruction:
Teach the identified age-appropriate strategies for planning, prioritizing, organizing materials, and time management (e.g., using planners, "future thinking," and breaking down long-term projects).

Emotional & Impulse Regulation:
Support students in identifying triggers and using self-regulation tools to manage frustration, transitions, and classroom focus.

EF Group

Coaching:

Develop and monitor plans and progress for small groups of students, with specific EF goals.

Classroom Integration:
Push into classrooms to help students apply organizational strategies in real-time and provide teachers with "EF-friendly" environmental tweaks (e.g., visual schedules or simplified desk systems).

Lessons:
Teach student lessons on EF on an as needed basis.

Home-School Partnership:
Conduct 4-6 workshops/informational sessions throughout the school year for PCK parents to ensure organizational systems at school are mirrored and supported at home.

Data & Progress Monitoring:
Track student growth using behavioral rubrics and work-completion data to adjust interventions. Track parent engagement in workshops/sessions.

Group Instruction:
Whole group instruction in grades K-2 regarding school wide character traits, that are linked to executive functioning. Schedule for weekly lessons.
