Position Overview

Director, Mechanical Engineering – Lead the mechanical side of all data center development projects across the company. Coordinate design, implementation and ongoing operation in partnership with Sales, Operations, Construction and other engineering disciplines. This role is fully remote and supports all U.S. locations.

• Strategic Leadership – Define and drive the vision for mechanical design and engineering initiatives. Lead long‑term planning, evaluate emerging technologies and maintain engagement with the data center community.
• Influence & Collaboration – Build relationships with internal teams (Construction, Operations, Market Development, Sales) and external stakeholders (consultants, vendors, contractors). Serve as trusted advisor to senior leadership and communicate insights in reports and presentations.
• Autonomy & Decision‑Making – Exercise independent judgment on design decisions, consultant/vendor qualification, technology adoption and deployment. Ensure continuous improvement and alignment with budget and business priorities.
• Managerial Capacity – Oversee team performance, budget and schedule. Lead QA/QC processes, mentor staff and manage recruitment of high‑performing mechanical SME team.
• Nature of Work – Lead all mechanical design activities: site assessment, conceptual design, basis of design, scope of work and construction documentation. Ensure compliance with codes, specifications and leases. Develop and refine design standards and support sales/marketing technical needs.
• Additional Responsibilities – Develop learning and onboarding content for the team, promote transparency and facilitate organization‑wide communication. Perform other duties as assigned.

• Education – Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer – Registration as a U.S. Professional Engineer (P.E.) strongly preferred.
• Experience – 8+ years in a management role, 15+ years in mechanical design & construction, 20+ years preferred. Extensive experience in leading cross‑disciplinary technical design teams.
• Data Center Expertise – Proven track record in North American development projects, understanding of design, construction, commissioning and operations processes.
• Technical Skills – Solid knowledge of CSA and MEP design, familiarity with engineering analysis tools (Pipe Flow, 6
  
  Sigma CFD, etc.), AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Navisworks, CFD modeling, building codes and ordinances (ASHRAE).
• Communication – Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to present to executive management and cross‑functional teams.
• Travel – 15–25% travel required; may increase over time.
• Qualifications – Ability to multitask, strong organizational and project management skills, proactive, analytical, integrity and professionalism.

• Salary Range – $230,000 – $250,000 base + bonus (Colorado market data).
