The Town of Parker Police Department invites experienced, certified law enforcement professionals to apply for our Reserve Police Officer Program. This program offers a unique opportunity to contribute to public safety, support sworn officers, and serve the Parker community while maintaining your primary career.
Reserve officers enhance the department’s operational capacity and play an important role in daily policing activities. Assignments may include patrol support, special events, traffic enforcement, community engagement efforts, and other operational needs of the department.

Continuous timeline:
Applications will be reviewed by Command Staff as received; testing emails will be sent upon application approval. Testing includes release forms, typing test, written exam and video interview. Must pass all testing phases to move to the Oral Board process. The sooner all phases of testing are complete, the sooner an invitation to Oral Board Interviews will occur. Oral Board Interviews are conducted approximately every two weeks.

- Reserve officers are sworn peace officers and are held to the same standards of conduct, training, and accountability as full-time police officers. Reserves must comply with all applicable laws, Town of Parker policies, and Police Department procedures and participate in ongoing training requirements.
- Assignments may include patrol support, special events, traffic enforcement, community engagement, and other operational needs of the department.
- Responds to calls for service; interprets and upholds various laws; prevents, discovers, and investigates crime; preserves public order and public safety.
- Initiates citizen contacts, traffic stops, and investigates suspicious occurrences through community policing strategies.
- Interacts with citizens to identify issues of concern and works to resolve them; facilitates community problem solving and takes enforcement action when appropriate.
- Completes required paperwork including but not limited to reports, citations, and warrant paperwork; may serve in a specialized assignment capacity.
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and have a Colorado P.O.S.T. Level 1 Peace Officer certification, or a provisional letter from Colorado POST by date of hire. If POST certified in another state, must provide a Provisional Certification letter from Colorado POST by date of hire and complete the provisional process within six (6) months.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Colorado driver’s license; safe driving record and a minimum of two (2) years of driving history.
- Formal education in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of modern police principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment; knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; knowledge of human nature and problem-solving methods; knowledge of incident command protocol.
- Interpersonal communications skills; ability to work with town staff, elected officials, and the public; skills in research and report writing.
- Ability to learn and interpret laws, regulations, and policies; ability to navigate geography and roadways; read and write English effectively; maintain proficiency with police equipment.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision; ability to problem solve and function under pressure; ability to pass a pre-employment background check including drug screen, criminal history search, credit check, and polygraph examination.
- Ability to load, unload, aim and fire handguns from a variety of positions according to qualification standards.
