Location: Summit County, CO (Mon-Thu); work is in-person during pre/post shifts and open hours.

Hiring Pay Range: $24.00 - 24.50

Age Requirement for this Role:
25 years of age or older (for agency vehicle insurance eligibility)

Job summary:

This role splits their time between volunteer coordination and food market operations. The volunteer coordinator manages volunteer activities, databases, and community service hours, while also coordinating with CAFÉ Food Rescue and Grocery Store Rescue volunteers. At the same time, they perform daily food market operations, including handling inventory, food donations, and customer interactions. Candidates must become proficient with food market software and systems, as well as be highly familiar with Microsoft Office suite, able to lift up to 50 pounds,
hold a valid driver’s license (age 25+), and drive between Summit County locations. Adherence to safety protocols is essential.

The person we are looking for will be:

Primary duties:

  • Manage FIRC’s volunteer database and postings, update shifts, and track volunteer hours.
  • Host orientations and appreciation events, respond to inquiries, and manage the volunteer email inbox.
  • Create newsletters, thank-you communications, and social media content.
  • Set goals to grow and engage the volunteer base, maintain an organized and welcoming volunteer area.
  • Ensure consistent training by keeping materials and checklists updated.
  • Train, supervise and engage volunteers, educate them on FIRC programs, and assist with creating and updating a Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Plan.
  • Food Market Operations (30%)
    • Receive and weigh deliveries, track donations, and manage inventory in the software system.
    • Handle compost, recycling runs, and trash pick-ups.
    • Transport food between locations using the agency vehicle.
    • Prepare food boxes, check in shoppers electronically, and provide referrals to community resources.
    • Organize and clean refrigerators and storage spaces.
    • Welcome and assist clients warmly, ensuring dignity and respect, while answering questions and providing support. Check shoppers into FIRC’s databases and systems accurately, and utilize technology to ensure timely and precise data collection for all Food Market activities.
    • Enforce cleanliness, safety, and organizational protocols.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Communicate Food Market needs, suggestions, and feedback to the Food Market Supervisor or Manager; participate in bi-weekly check-ins and team meetings.
  • Stay current with FIRC communications by maintaining an updated Outlook calendar, Teams messages, and Dialpad number; attend agency-wide meetings and trainings (in-person and online).
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, provide excellent customer service, collaborate as a team member, and de-escalate potential conflicts; maintain HIPAA confidentiality at all times.
