THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION (9 MONTHS OR LESS) - PAYING $18 PER HOUR

EMPLOYMENT STARTS May THROUGH September or October, 2026.

Positions and Responsibilities PARK MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
  • Perform general park maintenance and cleaning of public facilities such as restrooms, showers, vault toilets, campsites, picnic areas, trails, etc.
  • Operate and maintain state‑owned vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure quality customer service and facility cleanliness.
  • Provide information and assistance to visitors.
  • Assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and transporting materials and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be able to lift 50–100 pounds repeatedly during the course of a single workday.
  • Willing to work outside during inclement weather.
VISITOR SERVICES TECHNICIAN
  • Staff park entrance station and/or visitor center.
  • Provide information and assistance to visitors, distribute maps/brochures, and promote educational programs.
  • Sell park passes, permits, maps, and other merchandise; operate cash register and complete shift reports.
  • Answer phones and take messages.
  • Perform light maintenance of gates, visitor center, and offices.
  • Assist with special events or programs.
  • May prepare campground reservation forms and documents.
  • Document and report visitor complaints.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
AQUATIC NUISANCE SPECIES (ANS) INSPECTOR
  • Staff the ANS inspection station.
  • Conduct physical boat inspections and boater interviews.
  • Provide information and assistance to the boating public.
  • Maintain and clean inspection areas.
  • Accurately record all boat inspections using written or phone‑application software.
  • May handle reporter complaints and perform other duties as assigned.
  • May be required to work at the station for an 8‑hour shift and take lunch there.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
EDUCATION/VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
  • Plan, schedule, and present Junior Ranger, school, group, campfire, and guided hike programs.
  • Provide roving interpretation in campgrounds and day‑use areas.
  • Work with individual and group volunteers; train volunteer naturalists.
  • Collaborate with other state, federal, and local agencies.
  • Develop and promote program attendance; create brochures and other written materials.
  • Work the visitor center front desk on a few days per week.
  • Assist with special events or programs.
  • Catalog and protect park collections of slides, photographs, specimens, etc.
  • Attend assigned training sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
TEMPORARY INTERNSHIP
  • Work in visitor center, patrols, trail maintenance, facility maintenance, aquatic nuisance species education and inspections, construction, and more.
  • Perform outdoor physical activity in all weather conditions.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age; possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Possess or be able to acquire First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • May work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Work with limited supervision and within a team.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors, may involve inclement weather.
  • Must lift 50–100 pounds repeatedly during a workday.
  • Housing may be available for out‑of‑area applicants.
  • These positions are up to 40 hours per week and up to nine months in duration.
Basic Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work outdoors and on weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
  • May need to undergo criminal background investigation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications are preferred.
  • Must be able to climb in/out of vessels and kneel/crawl under trailers.
