The mission of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources is to develop, preserve, and enhance the state's natural resources for the benefit and enjoyment of current and future citizens and visitors. - TEMPORARY TRAIL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN:
The primary role is to maintain, restore, and improve trail tread and trail corridors on Golden Gate Canyon State Park's 40 mile trail system. Work is outdoors at elevations ranging from 7500 to 9500 feet, often in backcountry conditions. Work is performed in a team setting and may involve coordinating with volunteers. In emergencies, technicians assist Park Staff to ensure safety and protect park resources.
Other duties as assigned. Subject to background check. - PARK INTERPRETIVE NATURALIST:
Customer service based position that involves facilitating park interpretive and environmental education programs. Develop and present natural resources/historical programs. Subject to background check. Duties include scheduling and presenting Junior Ranger, school/group, campfire, hikes, outreach programs; roving interpretation; working with volunteers; training volunteers; supporting the visitor center; developing written materials; assisting with special events; collecting and organizing park collections; attending trainings;
other duties as assigned. - VISITOR SERVICES TECHNICIAN/GATE ATTENDANT:
Customer service based position in a visitor center or gate entrance, greeting visitors, or field assignments. Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective communication and public relations skills. Duties include staff the park entrance/visitor center, provide information and assistance, sell passes and merchandise, operate a cash register, answer telephones, document visitor feedback, perform light maintenance, assist with events, and other duties as assigned. - MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN:
Responsible for general park maintenance and cleaning of facilities (restrooms, showers, cabins, campsites, trails, etc.). Operates and maintains state vehicles/equipment. May assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and transporting materials.
Note:
up to 40 hours/week and up to six months in duration. School schedules can be accommodated. Employee housing may be available for applicants from outside the area/state.

- Able and willing to do data entry on tablets and computers
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts
- Willing to work outside and in inclement weather
- Upon hire, attend and complete required boat inspector training
- Supply and work in appropriate uniform as directed
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision
- Pursuant to the DNR-120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, workers driving State-owned vehicles must maintain a safe driving record and valid license prior to driving
- To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) may be pulled for certain employees (e.g., those with assigned fleet vehicles, required to operate a vehicle, or using a pool vehicle)
Park Maintenance:
Must be at least 16 years of age; valid driver's license; willingness to work outside; ability to lift 75-100 pounds; knowledge of power/tools and possible maintenance roles;
First Aid/CPR certifications may be required; ability to work varied shifts, weekends, and holidays; strong interpersonal communication; ability to work with minimal supervision; some uniform items may be provided.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position involves physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
