Job Description

Tongass Electric is looking for a motivated and energetic Electrical Apprentice to join our dynamic team. This role provides an opportunity to learn the electrical trade by assisting skilled electricians in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems. The position combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction, requiring commitment to both practical and academic learning.

Responsibilities
  • Assist electricians in installing and maintaining electrical systems, including wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Handle and organize materials and tools, participate in trench digging for conduits, and assemble components under supervision.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment; follow safety standards while managing tools and equipment.
  • Support site preparation by removing hazards and organizing necessary materials.
  • Learn to diagnose and repair electrical issues, actively participating in training sessions to enhance skills.
  • Maintain clear communication with team members and supervisors, ensuring tools and materials are stocked and work areas organized.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; enrollment in an accredited electrical apprenticeship program preferred.
  • Reciprocal-state eligibility as listed above.
  • Must have at least 1,000 documented electrical hours.
  • Must have 3+ years total experience, with at least 1+ years proven experience in each residential and commercial electrical work.
  • Basic understanding of electrical tools and equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and eagerness to learn advanced electrical systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, with the capability to transport materials to job sites.
  • Committed to maintaining high safety and quality standards in all tasks.
  • Must be able to pass a background check to remain in compliance with school, federal, and governmental projects.
  • Candidate must live in USA.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required. Demonstrate at least 2 years of prior experience in a position that requires manual labor and use of hand/power tools or equipment. Demonstrate 3+ years of prior experience in an electrical position that requires manual labor and use of hand/power tools or equipment.
Work Environment
  • Most job duties are performed in the field (project sites, including a customer’s home and/or building construction sites).
  • Fieldwork at various project sites, including homes and construction sites.
  • Exposure to physical activities like bending, climbing, and kneeling.
  • Requires working in varying weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments.
  • Must be capable of working 40 - 50+ hours per week.
Schedule

Mon-Fri 7:00 am – 5:00 pm;
Overtime potential.
