Streets Maintenance Technician (Tech I/II/III)

Under general supervision, this position is a front-line provider responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of public streets and rights of way throughout the Town.

This position performs duties deemed to be safety sensitive. Employees holding this position participate in pre-employment and random drug testing under Town’s policies.

Please note that although this is a progression series up to a Tech III, the hiring team is looking for a Tech I or Tech II at this time.

• Operates and maintains motor vehicles, road construction equipment/tools, and snow/ice removal equipment.
• Provides the Streets Supervisor and/or Streets Lead Technician with status reports and advises on projects/tasks related to or assigned to the Streets Division.
• Maintains and repairs the Town’s street and right-of-way assets.
• Performs snow/ice removal operations on a rotating schedule when necessary.
• Responds to natural and man-made disasters by performing street maintenance duties as required.
• Maintains asphalt in streets, rights of ways, medians, and sidewalks – including demolition and removal of existing asphalt, establishing subgrade surfaces, sealing cracks and mastic, patching and repairing potholes, and patching and sectioning repairs which includes surface and full-depth replacement.
• Maintains concrete in streets, rights of ways, medians, and sidewalks – including demolition, removal, and replacement of existing concrete, implementing appropriate mix designs, and forming/pouring concrete.
• Maintains right of way by mowing, edging, weed mitigation, street sweeping, and maintaining landscape.
• Services and maintains assigned equipment and makes minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on related equipment such as checking/servicing fuel, oil, coolant levels, tire pressure, and general appearance; takes necessary steps to bring equipment up to operating standards; prepares and maintains detailed usage records.
• Complies with and ensures compliance with all organizational values, policies, procedures, and all verbal and written instructions.
• Performs other related duties as needed.

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Colorado for the type of vehicle or equipment operated; safe driving record and a minimum of two (2) years of driving history.
• Eligible to participate in a self-initiated progression program for promotional advancement through technician levels.

This is an entry-level position within the Streets Maintenance Division’s technician series. This position is distinguished from the Technician II by the performance of limited and routine tasks. Technician I is typically utilized as a training platform for employees having only limited or no related work experience.

• Preferred one (1) year of labor experience or six (6) months of experience in street maintenance or a closely related field.
• Requires knowledge and competent demonstration of basic street maintenance duties, ability to operate motorized equipment, and ability to effectively communicate within six (6) months of hire.
• Requires certification to be initiated within six (6) months of hire:
  Traffic Control/Flagger Certification and IS-100.
• Requires certification to be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire:
  Class B, Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and tanker endorsements.

This is a mid-level position within the Streets Maintenance Division’s technician series. The Technician II receives only occasional instruction or assistance and performs the full range of tasks and duties assigned.

• Requires six (6) months of experience as a Streets Maintenance Technician I or two (2) years of equivalent experience outside the Town of Parker.
• Requires knowledge and competent demonstration of using electric and gas-powered equipment, proficiency in either asphalt/concrete maintenance or right of way maintenance, and proficiency in operating back hoes, loaders,…
