Fuel Construction Technician

The Fuel Construction Technician plays a key role in building, installing, removing, and upgrading fuel storage and distribution systems for a variety of projects, including municipal, airport, government, hospital, and oil and gas facilities. This position combines hands-on construction work, heavy equipment operation, and support for environmental remediation to ensure fuel systems are installed and maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Build, install, remove, and upgrade underground and above ground fuel storage systems for municipal, airport, government, hospital, and oil and gas projects.
  • Install and remove underground storage tanks (UST) and above ground storage tanks (AST) in accordance with applicable codes and safety standards.
  • Install fuel piping, containment systems, and related infrastructure to support fuel storage and distribution operations.
  • Perform excavation, trenching, grading, compaction, and site restoration activities to prepare and finish construction sites.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, and compactors safely and efficiently.
  • Support environmental remediation and construction projects related to fuel systems and site cleanup.
  • Follow OSHA and excavation safety guidelines and contribute to a safe work environment on all project sites.
  • Collaborate with project teams to complete assignments on schedule and according to specifications.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition and report any issues promptly.

Essential Skills

  • 2–5 years of experience in fuel construction, specifically working with fuel storage and distribution systems.
  • Proven experience with tank installation and removal, including underground storage tanks (UST) and above ground storage tanks (AST).
  • Hands-on experience with fuel systems, including piping, containment, and related infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform excavation, trenching, grading, compaction, and site restoration work.
  • Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, and compactors.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and excavation safety practices.
  • Ability to support environmental remediation and construction projects related to fuel systems.
  • Capacity to work on diverse project types, including municipal, airport, government, hospital, and oil and gas sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • HAZWOPER training or certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with containment systems and fuel infrastructure installation best practices.
  • Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time as project needs require.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a construction and remediation team.

Work Environment

This role follows a Monday–Friday schedule, providing predictable weekday hours. Work takes place on active construction and remediation sites, including municipal, airport, government, hospital, and oil and gas facilities. The position involves outdoor work and hands-on tasks such as excavation, trenching, grading, compaction, and tank installation or removal. Heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, and compactors is used regularly.

Travel is required approximately 10% of the time to reach different project locations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Parker, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
