This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Retail Payments and Accounting Division. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for processing; recording, and reporting transactions accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with the governing regulations.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-9. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

• Assume responsibility for preparation and entry of accounting transactions into subsidiary ledgers as well as the Summary Debt Accounting System (SDAS) for accurate and timely reporting of financial activity related to savings securities.
• Assist internal and external auditors during reviews and audits by locating source documents and answering questions.
• Research and resolve inconsistencies in accounting transactions reported for savings security processing adjustments.
• Assume responsibility for specific reconcilements, reports, or ledgers.
• Recommend methods and procedures, which would enhance accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency in processing work within both computerized and manual accounting systems.
