Minimum Qualifications- Education, certification, and/or licensure:
High school education or equivalent.
- Prior medical office receptionist experience.
- Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner. Ensures the patient feels welcome.
- Obtains appropriate consent for release of medical records and documents in patient record, log or files/indexes.
- Takes referrals from physicians and physicians' offices. Schedules appointments based on diagnosis and other pertinent data.
- Prepares patient charts. Appropriate knowledge of scanning and indexing.
- Responsible for maintaining the necessary supplies for the functioning of the office.
- Accurately enters patient demographic information into computer, files and records patient information accurately and timely.
- Transcription and other records received are placed into patient charts and/or sent to primary care physician or referring physician in a timely manner.
- Familiar with close of day policy and procedures.
- Assists in other areas of department and corporation as needed, completing other duties as assigned.
- Sitting for long periods of time.
- Cognizant of environmental factors, infection control issues to maintain a clean safe and functional work environment.
- Efficient in the operation of office equipment including computers, fax, copiers, and telecommunications systems.
- Must have excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to answer, prioritize and triage telephone calls calmly and professionally.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Highly motivated, organized, and attentive to detail.
- Ability to work based on operational needs of the department.
- Possess ability to relay information, and deal tactfully and harmoniously with others.
- Basic computer skills required.
