Registered Nurse Medical Surgical Neuro

Job Summary:

Provides specialized medical-surgical nursing care to neuro and ortho patients in a fast-paced environment. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to ensure optimal recovery and comfort.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and monitor IV fluids, PCA pumps, and titratable set-rate drips, ensuring proper administration and safety.
• Assess, prioritize, and document patient conditions, including vitals and FSBS, while managing neuro and ortho-related diagnoses.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and modify care plans aligned with patient needs and surgical outcomes.
• Educate and support patients and families on post-operative care, medications, and recovery processes.
• Maintain accurate documentation within Epic EMR system, ensuring compliance with all protocols.
• Respond promptly to patient calls and facilitate emergency interventions when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Valid unexpired driver’s license required for unit access.
• Current BLS certification.
• Proven experience caring for orthopedic and neuro-surgical patients, with familiarity in PCA pumps and IV therapies.
• Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Ability to float to other Med Surg units and adapt to changing patient needs.
• Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.
