American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of experience and prior travel assignment experience.

• Acute care setting on an 18-bed Med Surg/Infectious Disease unit with all private rooms
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6, or 1:4 if caring for COVID patients
• Unit typically staffed with 3-4 RNs per shift plus 2 CNAs
• Patient population includes infectious disease, isolation, COVID, MRSA, and C-Diff cases
• Remote telemetry monitoring from a separate floor; RNs are not required to read or interpret strips
• No cardiac drip titration required; may titrate Heparin and other standard Med Surg IV medications and antibiotics
• Respiratory therapy manages CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow patients; no ventilators on unit
• 12-hour night shifts,  with a half-hour lunch break
• Every-other-weekend requirement (Fri/Sat/Sun for nights)
• Holiday coverage may be required depending on unit staffing needs
• Possible low census call-off depending on contract terms
• Travelers float first, required to float to any Med Surg unit; if floated to Tele, assignments stay within skillset
• Uses EPIC EMR

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Strong knowledge of Med Surg and infectious disease/isolation precautions required
• Unexpired copy of driver's license required for consideration

• Provide care to patients requiring isolation precautions for various infectious diseases
• Charge Nurse coverage is available 24/7; night charge nurse always carries a full patient assignment
• Orientation includes 1 day of EPIC training followed by 1 day with a preceptor on the floor, then independent on day 3
• Scrub color is royal blue; scrub jackets are optional but must be royal blue with no hoodies or sweat-jackets allowed
• Local candidates are not accepted; must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must wait 2 years before reapplying
• Travelers cannot work within the WVU system for more than 1 cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
