SUMMARY OF

JOB PURPOSE:

Under ongoing supervision, the QC Inspector performs in-process inspection of materials and weldments using nondestructive testing methods and visual inspection methods to assure compliance with specifications and quality requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use interpersonal skills to effectively communicate QA/QC requirements and objectives
• Assure product meets and/or exceeds standards and specifications
• Performs in-process inspection and nondestructive tests
• Assist Inspection Manager/Lead person and QA/QC personnel as needed
• Work at a pace sufficient to obtain quality and quantity of inspection/testing, consistent with operational requirements
• Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by Manager

JOB SCOPE:

• This position provides specialty support to the facility by ensuring manufactured products conform to specified requirements to ensure the highest quality possible.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
• As needed the employee should have sufficient education, training and experience to ensure qualification in inspection methods, which are being employed.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to locate and compute metric conversions.
• Ability to cross train in multiple departments.

EDUCATION/

EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• AWS - CWI
• ASNT-TC-1A Level II in MT and PT with three years experience
