Position: Coordinator of Faith Formation (NE)
Saint Isaac Jogues Church, a Northeast Baltimore County Parish, seeks candidates for a Coordinator of Faith Formation. The Coordinator of Faith Formation plans and implements the parish program of catechetical instruction and faith formation for children and youth, pre-K through 8th grade. The Coordinator of Faith Formation will be given a schedule that will include days, evenings and weekends as needed by the Pastor.

This is a part-time, non-benefit eligible position, working 19 weekly hours.

Position Summary

Coordinator of Faith Formation
  • Identify effective curriculum with ongoing assessment of the Program's effectiveness
  • Coordinate Faith Formation Teachers
  • Work with Pastor or his designee regarding ongoing Formation of teachers within yearly retreat
  • Coordinate Sacramental Prep (Reconciliation, Eucharist, & Confirmation)
  • Coordinate Parent Workshops
  • Seek ways to increase numbers of Students
Vacation Bible School

Responsible for selecting Curriculum as well as Theme for a productive VBS program each Summer. Coordinate with Volunteers, catechists, etc. to ensure an educational and exciting faith-filled environment

Essential Functions:
  • The Coordinator of Faith Formation plans and implements the parish program of catechetical instruction and faith formation for children and youth, pre-K through 8th grade
  • Select and implement an Archdiocesan approved curriculum in regular catechists and family life
  • Organization of registration and re-registration of all students
  • Recruitment, appointment, and direction of volunteer catechists and assisting staff
  • Procurement and care of all textbooks and other materials needed for the program
  • Promotion and maintenance of ongoing communication with parents and catechist/teachers through a yearly calendar of events, current Handbook, notes, and meetings as needed
  • Ensure the Safe Environment requirements (Virtus Certification), policies, and mandates for Parish Faith Formation volunteers are in compliance with Archdiocesan standards
  • Annual preparation of and responsible management of a budget, which is approved by the Finance Committee, for all income and expenses related to the Faith Formation Program in collaboration with the Parish Manager
  • Procure all textbooks and supplies in a timely fashion and maintain an inventory
  • Schedule, organize, and oversee Baptism Preparation, First Reconciliation, and First Communion catechesis and preparation classes
  • Plan the First Reconciliation and First Communion liturgies and a suitable reception after the liturgies for the children and their parents
  • Maintain membership and active involvement in professional associations of religious educators, including the National Conference of Catechetical Leadership (NCCL), Baltimore Area Catechetical Minister Association (BACM).
  • Serve as the parish-level assistant to the Virtus Coordinator and Parish Center Scheduler
Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Religious Education or Theology, preferred but not required.
  • Relevant work experience and Religious Education as a leader, teacher, or volunteer will be highly considered.
  • Knowledge of Diocesan guidelines and procedures.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms that work with parents and families is helpful (Flock Notes and others).
  • Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
  • Must be able to participate fully in the Sacramental life of the Church.
  • Recommendation from the applicant's Pastor is requested.
  • The ability to support the mission of the Catholic Church within scope of job duties
Pay Range: $22.00 - 24.00, Hourly
