We are a CARF-accredited Outpatient Mental Health Center (OMHC) in Maryland, offering a full spectrum of services designed to support individuals on their journey to mental wellness and recovery. Our licensed programs include an Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP), an Outpatient Program, and a specialized Level .5 Early Education program that features a DWI/DUI component for individuals requiring early intervention and education.

What We Are Looking For :
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Addiction Counselor to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will provide direct counseling, support, and treatment planning for individuals facing substance use disorders.
This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within an outpatient setting, working alongside a team of mental health professionals dedicated to providing evidence-based care and support.
Job Summary
The Addiction Counselor plays a vital role in supporting individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This position involves providing comprehensive assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering counseling services to clients in both individual and group settings. The counselor will utilize evidence-based practices to facilitate recovery and promote mental wellness, ensuring clients receive the necessary support throughout their journey to sobriety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to determine appropriate levels of care and individualized treatment plans for clients.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions with a focus on addiction recovery, relapse prevention, and emotional wellness.
- Collaborate with clients to set achievable treatment goals and monitor progress.
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary and develop coping strategies for clients.
- Coordinate care with other members of the treatment team, including therapists, psychiatrists, and case managers.
- Document client progress, treatment plans, and any interventions in compliance with OMHC and CARF standards.
- Educate clients and their families on addiction, mental health, and available resources to support long-term recovery.
- Engage in professional development opportunities and stay informed on best practices in addiction treatment.
- Maintains a caseload as assigned and in accordance with COMAR and CARF regulations.
- Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the state of Maryland and/or LCPC, LCSW-C (Preferred);
- Bachelor Degree (Preferred)
- Minimum Associate degree
Any of the following current certifications in good standing with the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists:
- LGADC, CAC-AD, CSC-AD (ADT's with 3+ years experience and up for licensure may be considered)
- Strong knowledge and skills to access, diagnose and treat medical and substance abuse issues, and have knowledge and experience with the special needs and behavior of individuals in therapeutic settings undergoing withdrawal from substances
- Familiarity with State Regulations (COMAR), DEA regulations, and CARF standards.
- Excellent documentation and computer skills
- Strong knowledge of Electronic Health Records
- Subject matter expertise of local community drug trends, the effects of the body and cognitive functioning of drugs of abuse, signs, and symptoms of narcotic overdose, psychosocial implications of addictive disease, the process of addiction and treatment, social science, economic, legal and medical systems, HIV transmission, behavioral and emotional implications of addiction.
- Familiarity with medical records management and ICD-9 coding standards.
- Proficient in patient assessment techniques and case management principles.
- Strong experience in addiction work, including evidence-based practices and culturally-responsive practice as a clinician and as a supervisor
