MAIN PURPOSE OF JOBJoin Us in Making a Difference at DJS! We are seeking passionate individuals for the role of Skilled Trade Specialist IV, so join our team and make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS! The Skilled Trades Specialist IV is responsible for the daily uninterrupted operation of the Charles H.
Hickey Jr. Center and handles maintenance duties such as HVAC, lighting, plumbing and preventative maintenance. The Skilled Trades Specialist IV may also handle new construction, installations, alterations, renovations, painting, repairs of facility equipment, electrical work and grounds maintenance/snow removal in order to maintain the facility, ensuring the safety and security of the youth and the staff at the Charles H.
Hickey Center.
- . Personnel will be subject to respond to Emergencies after hour calls
- Safely operate and perform work from elevated equipment, including step ladders, extension ladders, scissor lifts, and articulating boom lifts.
- Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. - Experience:
Five years of experience performing skilled trade work in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, locksmith, masonry, painting, or welding work. - Note:
1. Candidates may substitute additional years of experience for the required education on a year-for-year basis. - Note:
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
- Structural framing, drywall installation and finishing
- Knowledge of understanding of mechanical and electrical drawings

- 1. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
- 2. Employees in this classification who perform electrical work and are assigned to facilities that mandate licensed electricians must possess a current license as a Master Electrician or other appropriate electrician license from a local board or from the Maryland State Board of Master Electricians, 500 N. Calvert Street, Baltimore, Maryland .
- 3. Employees in this classification who perform work as a plumber must possess a Maryland Journeyman/Gas Fitter License.
