Licensed Professional Engineer (Open Until Filled) – City of Fresno, CA
Salary: $ - $ Annually USD
Position description and recruitment notes are open until filled. The City is seeking experienced professional engineers to support capital projects and critical infrastructure operations in the Capital Projects Department and the Department of Public Utilities.
Responsibilities- Perform complex work requiring licensure as a Professional Engineer and may supervise, coordinate, and evaluate the performance of pre-professional engineers and technical engineering staff engaged in civil, electrical, fire protection, geotechnical, structural, mechanical, sanitary, or traffic engineering.
- Support capital projects and daily departmental operations to ensure projects are delivered in a timely manner.
- Work in departments with openings in Design Services, Transportation Project Management, Utilities Project Management, and On-Site Project Management, with experience in civil, transportation, or utilities design preferred.
- Participate in planning, design, and construction oversight of potable water, recycled water, and wastewater projects; engage with water resources management plans and related master plans as needed.
- All vacancies will be filled from the eligible list for a specified period with potential extension at the City’s discretion.
- Valid registration as a Professional Engineer by the State of California or equivalent at time of application. License from another state may qualify, but a California PE license must be obtained at time of appointment.
- Possession and continued maintenance of a valid California Driver’s License may be required within sixty (60) days of appointment.
- Recruitment may be limited to a specific area of expertise as required by operational needs.
- Please attach a copy of your valid registration as a Professional Engineer. Applications lacking this documentation may be rejected.
- Areas of expertise include, but are not limited to:
Civil, Electrical, Fire Protection, Geotechnical, Mechanical, Sanitary, Structural, and Traffic Engineering.

Applications meeting minimum qualifications will be reviewed; a limited number of the most qualified candidates will be invited to an Oral Examination. - Oral Exam – 100%: A panel will evaluate training, experience, and personal traits. Passing score required for the eligible list.

Candidates applying for veteran's preference must submit a copy of DD214 with their application during the filing period. Veterans may receive five (5) points added to their final score upon qualification.
