Position: Instructor, 911 Telecommunications/EMD

Department: Police N/C
Location: Key Bank Public Safety Training Center

Summary

Provides instructional training related to 911 Telecommunications/Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) from nationally certified 911 curriculum.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for providing instruction and preparing lesson plans based on nationally certified 911 curriculum
  • Delivers training related to the Public Safety Telecommunications program
  • Continually promotes students’ development and effective use of skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking, evaluation, communication, professionalism, customer service, computation, problem solving, and decision-making
  • Maintains accurate, up-to-date records of student academic and attendance performance
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

Education and Experience /Training
  • Associate’s Degree (Significant related experience may substitute for education)
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Public Safety Communications
  • Advanced communication (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Word Processing and PowerPoint Presentation software, as well as Internet and Email basic skills
  • Ability to assess and grade the progress of students
  • Possess sensitivity to respond appropriately to the community

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree and certification in Telecommunications and EMD
  • Must be able to obtain all required Instructor certifications within 60 days of hire date
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
  • The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;
  • The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
  • Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite

This is a Part‑Time Non‑Bargaining Unit Position, with a set rate of pay: $25.00 per hour.
