Job Description SUMMARYFacilitates the implementation and evaluation of adaptive technology support materials and technology accessible to students with disabilities. Coordinates sign‑language interpreting scheduling for classroom and course‑content delivery accommodations, student outreach, faculty communications, and timesheet review for payment in compliance with college employment and purchasing policies. Provides document conversion into electronic formats, training on assistive technology, maintains the adaptive technology database, coordinates note‑taking accommodation, and supplies the college with current knowledge of field innovations.
Supports services to students and faculty at the Eastern, Metropolitan, Western, and Westshore campus locations as part of the established work schedule.
- Communicates with SAS advisers to obtain information for implementing student accommodations related to sign‑language interpreting and adaptive technology.
- Schedules sign‑language interpreters for students at all campus locations.
- Coordinates assignments of sign‑language interpreters for enrolled students each term.
- Engages interpreters and service providers regarding assignments, work hours, and payment.
- Reviews timesheets and documentation for payment, ensuring compliance with employment and purchasing policies.
- Trains and supports students with disabilities on appropriate assistive technologies.
- Oversees document conversion into accessible formats, serving as a liaison with faculty to ensure formats are provided.
- Manages assistive software, adaptive equipment, and facilitates video proctoring as needed.
- Provides custom alternate format materials for classroom use.
- Maintains spreadsheets and databases to track student requests and equipment distribution.
- Documents all communications with students and faculty in detailed memos.
- Maintains the Student Accessibility Services department’s website.
- Demonstrates civil and inclusive behavior with staff, faculty, students, and visitors.
- Promotes a flexible, collaborative, inclusive work environment and engages in diversity and inclusion education.
- Proctors and assists with exam administration for students requiring accommodations.
- Assists with the computer needs of the office related to student testing and access.
- Travels to multiple campuses for proctoring, training, and professional development.
- Conducts ongoing needs assessment and evaluations of technology and interpreting services, recommending enhancements to supervisors.
- Regularly meets with students and faculty to ensure service delivery and equipment availability.
- Consults with faculty regarding course content and materials as needed.
- Attends professional development meetings, workshops, and conferences.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. (Significant related experience may substitute for education.)
- Minimum of two years of experience with secondary or college students with disabilities in an academic setting.
- Experience in interpreting services, accessible software (e.g., Jaws or Kurzweil, and adaptive technology equipment).
- Experience requiring diverse problem‑solving methods across situations.
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Ability to travel among campuses.
- Working knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
