Overview
Tutor Module 4:
English as a Second Language (ESL) — part-time position at Western Campus. Reports to Supervisor, Testing & Tutoring.

Schedule:
to be determined by department needs.
- Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring support.
- Deliver subject-specific content strategies tailored to diverse learning styles to help students understand key concepts.
- Assist students with the use of equipment and learning materials needed for success.
- Conduct class visits and assist with publicizing the college s tutoring services.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with deadlines and complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of departmental instructional materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience/Training
- Education consistent with department needs; minimum of an associate’s degree in a related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated knowledge and competence in the subject matter.
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and to multitask with varying levels of students and material.
- Strong communication with faculty regarding expectations of students, attendance at tutoring sessions, and work completed.
- Ability to convey study strategies to support academic success; work well with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Patience and a positive attitude in establishing an encouraging learning environment.
- Professional decorum, ethical conduct, promptness, courtesy, and tact.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively; attention to detail; customer service skills and ability to sustain productive relationships.
- Working knowledge of administrative and scheduling concepts and the ability to apply them to varied situations.
- Demonstrated basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

- The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment.
- The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard. There may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items (papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.).
- Work may require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.
Set-Rate Non-Bargaining Part-Time Position: This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with a set rate of pay: $18.21 per hour.
