Job Title

Residential Treatment Therapist

Job Summary

The Residential Treatment Therapist is responsible for providing therapy and counseling services to residents in a residential treatment facility. This includes conducting individual and group therapy sessions, creating treatment plans, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to support the mental health and well-being of residents.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Conduct individual therapy sessions with residents to address emotional and behavioral issues.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions to promote communication and support among residents.
  • Create treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of each resident.
  • Collaborate with other members of the treatment team, including psychiatrists, social workers, and case managers.
  • Monitor residents' progress in treatment and adjust therapy plans as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support when residents are in distress.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of therapy sessions and treatment plans.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings to discuss residents' progress and develop comprehensive care plans.
  • Stay current on best practices in therapy and treatment modalities.
  • Work with families and outside providers to coordinate care for residents upon discharge from the facility.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Licensed as a therapist in the state of employment.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care principles.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based therapy techniques.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of residents and the treatment team.
  • Compassion and empathy in working with individuals facing mental health challenges.
