Holy Family Parish, established in 1872 and serving approximately 2,000 registered families, is seeking a full-time Business Manager to oversee the financial and administrative operations of the parish and its school.
Holy Family School includes Child Care, Preschool, and PK–8 programs serving 229 students.
The Business Manager serves as a key administrator supporting the Pastor in fulfilling the administrative, financial, and operational responsibilities of the parish. This position ensures sound stewardship of parish resources and compliance with diocesan policies, civil regulations, and best business practices.
This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package.
Primary Responsibilities- Prepare and manage annual parish and school budgets in collaboration with the Pastor, School Principal, Finance Council, and ministry leaders.
- Monitor monthly financial performance and provide regular reports to the Pastor and Finance Council.
- Oversee general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Manage banking, investments, restricted funds, and capital campaign accounts.
- Coordinate internal and diocesan audits and facilitate annual financial reporting to the Diocese of Cleveland.
- Administer offertory collection processes and ensure proper deposit and reporting procedures.
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports and employment tax filings.
- Issue annual donor contribution statements.
- Administer all payroll functions, including onboarding and payroll processing (Paycor experience preferred).
- Maintain employee job descriptions, teacher contracts, personnel files, and compliance documentation.
- Oversee employee benefits administration in accordance with diocesan policy and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensure VIRTUS compliance and maintain required volunteer and employee documentation.
- Serve as liaison to diocesan HR, benefits, legal, and facility services offices.
- Facilitate Parish Finance Council meetings in collaboration with the Pastor and Finance Council Chair.
- Participate in Parish Staff and School Leadership Team meetings.
- Serve as liaison between parish/school leadership and diocesan administrative offices.
- Support the Pastor in fundraising efforts, capital campaigns, and stewardship initiatives.
- Collaborate with ministry leaders to ensure sound financial oversight of all parish activities.
- Supervise the School Billing and Scholarships Coordinator.
- Maintain vendor files, contracts, certificates of insurance, and W-9 documentation.
- Apply for necessary permits and secure service contracts.
- Troubleshoot technology issues independently or with the parish’s technology consultant.
- Oversee property, casualty, insurance, and facility-related administrative processes.
- Practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum five years of progressively responsible business and supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, payroll, and investment practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and financial/accounting software.
- Experience with payroll systems (Paycor preferred) and ACS Financial Systems is a plus.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, school leadership, parish staff, volunteers, and diocesan offices.
The Business Manager reports directly to the Pastor and works closely with the School Principal and Parish Finance Council.
