Patient Safety Associate Behavioral Health‑Emergency Medicine Parma (Job )

Job Summary

Ensures a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, and hospital property by rounding in behavioral health units and the psychiatric emergency department, engaging patients, and promoting a safe and therapeutic environment while working in collaboration with clinical teams.

Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a behavioral health setting, corrections, healthcare facility, or related area.
  • Training in WELLE or completion within 90 days of hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to manage stressful situations, problem‑solve quickly, and respond appropriately during psychiatric emergencies.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, or another related field from an accredited institution (preferred).
  • Experience working as a security guard.
  • Experience as a trainer or educator, particularly on topics related to safety and de‑escalation.
