Job SummaryEnsures a safe environment for patients, visitors, employees, and hospital property by rounding in behavioral health units and the psychiatric emergency department, engaging patients, and promoting a safe and therapeutic environment while working in collaboration with clinical teams.
Qualifications- High‑school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a behavioral health setting, corrections, healthcare facility, or related area.
- Training in WELLE or completion within 90 days of hire.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Capacity to manage stressful situations, problem‑solve quickly, and respond appropriately during psychiatric emergencies.
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, or another related field from an accredited institution (preferred).
- Experience working as a security guard.
- Experience as a trainer or educator, particularly on topics related to safety and de‑escalation.
