Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site Senior Estimator position based in Parsippany, NJ. The ideal candidate will bring at least 7 years of commercial glass and glazing estimating experience, with strong knowledge of the NJ, NY, NYC, and PA markets.
The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, coordinating with project managers and clients, and leading preconstruction planning efforts. This role requires the ability to independently manage full bid cycles while proactively identifying scope gaps and expanding the company’s glass and glazing package to maximize contract value.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive quantity takeoffs for storefront, curtain wall, entrances, window systems, and interior glazing
- Identify coordination conflicts and scope gaps to strategically expand project packages
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, fabrication, equipment, freight, engineering, and overhead
- Develop conceptual budgets, design‑assist pricing, and GMP estimates
- Evaluate alternate systems and provide value engineering options
- Analyze architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and addenda
- Collaborate with project managers during handoff and execution planning
- Coordinate with structural engineers and façade consultants when required
- Review performance requirements including wind load, thermal performance, and glazing specifications
- Submit RFIs during bid stage to clarify scope and reduce risk
- Solicit and negotiate pricing from aluminum system suppliers and glass fabricators
- Evaluate lead times and long‑lead exposure
- Price union and prevailing wage projects accurately
- Understand NYC DOB processes and façade compliance requirements
- Prepare complete and professional proposal packages
- Clearly define inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions
- Review contract terms related to payment, retainage, and schedule risk
- Develop Schedule of Values aligned with company payment strategy
- Minimum 7 years of commercial glass and glazing estimating experience
- Strong knowledge of NJ, NY, NYC, and PA markets
- Expertise in cost estimation, cost analysis, and project pricing within the glass and glazing industry
- Strong understanding of storefront and curtain wall systems
- Familiarity with structural engineering coordination and performance specifications
- Experience with preconstruction planning and bid evaluation
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and estimating software
- Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field preferred
