Senior Thermodynamic and Corrosion Modeler
Location:
Parsippany, NJ
As a Specialist in Thermodynamic, Electrochemical, and Corrosion Modeling/Simulation, you will advance our state‑of‑the‑art simulation framework, develop and validate first‑principles models, and provide leadership across our research portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Model Development:
Develop, parameterize, and validate thermodynamic, electrochemical, and corrosion models. - Project Leadership:
Provide technical guidance and leadership for R&D projects, identifying opportunities and aligning with industry needs. - Customization:
Tailor and optimize models for industrial systems to enhance predictive capabilities in sectors such as oil and gas, metals and mining, power generation, and water treatment. - Client
Collaboration:
Work closely with clients to ensure modeling solutions meet their simulation needs and provide guidance on application and interpretation. - Multidisciplinary
Collaboration:
Collaborate with physical property researchers, process system engineers, and software developers to solve complex problems. - Research Partnership:
Engage with universities and national laboratories on joint theoretical and experimental studies, focusing on sustainability and asset integrity.
- Educational Background:
PhD in Chemical Engineering, Physical Chemistry, Materials Science, Computational Electrochemistry, or a related field. Postdoctoral or industrial experience is preferred. - Professional Expertise:
Strong scientific modeling expertise (coding and computational methods); background in corrosion phenomena, thermodynamic and transport modeling, reaction kinetics, and mechanistic model development; experience in experimental data analysis and model parameterization. - Familiarity with conventional chemical processes across upstream and downstream oil & gas, chemical, or power generation sectors is a plus.
- Proven expertise in phase/chemical equilibrium calculations and electrochemical or corrosion-related research and modeling is preferred.
- Numerical methods and scientific programming (C++, Python, MATLAB, Fortran).
- Regression analysis, data interpretation, model parameterization, and optimization.
- Experience with process simulation platforms (OLI, Aspen Plus, HYSYS, Pro II) is preferred.
- Familiarity with AI/ML‑enhanced modeling approaches such as PINNs and hybrid models is a plus.
