Pay Range: $100,000 - $140,000 per year
Job SummaryThe ECAD Designer (PCB Designer) is responsible for creating, developing, and releasing high‑quality PCB layouts and supporting documentation that meet stringent electrical, mechanical, EMC, and manufacturing requirements. This role requires deep technical expertise with OrCAD and Cadence tools and a thorough understanding of IPC standards. The designer will collaborate closely with Electrical, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure all layouts meet functional, cost, and producibility goals.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Deliver OrCAD-based PCB layouts and supporting documentation into manufacturing in accordance with customer and internal requirements.
- Design PCB layouts to meet electrical functionality, mechanical and manufacturability requirements.
- Participate in library symbol/footprint creation using IPC standards.
- Perform independent design and release work in collaboration with other disciplines.
- Develop PCB layout while adhering to electrical, mechanical, EMC, manufacturing and cost requirements.
- Support PCB layout design reviews (Electrical, EMC, Manufacturing, etc).
- 5+ years experience in ECAD electrical design with schematic capture and circuit board layout using OrCAD CIS and Cadence/OrCAD PCB Layout Pro workflow.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interactions with personnel at all levels and with vendors, suppliers, and customers.
- Strong knowledge of best commercial practices, including IPC class II & III, for circuit board design and manufacturing.
- Experience designing high‑voltage, high‑current PCBs with proper spacing and understanding of industry and IPC standards for PCB design and library structure.
- Experience creating and maintaining parts libraries for schematic capture and board layout.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Physical Requirements
- The role operates in a professional office and manufacturing/machine shop environment, using standard office equipment and appropriate workplace safety gear.
- Regularly see, talk, and hear.
- Frequently reach with hands and arms, and use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Frequently sit, stand, walk, and move about the facility.
- May lift and/or move items weighing up to 20 pounds.
- May be required to lift files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
