Job Responsibilities- Leads the planning and execution of field investigations for environmental engineering projects by performing field tests, collecting samples, collecting and recording data, and performing routine calculations.
- Monitors complex construction projects by performing and/or overseeing the execution of various environmental tests to evaluate environmental impact and whether contractor or subcontractor has complied with job specifications.
- Identifies and implements engineering solutions to environmental problems in lab and in the field and accurately documents results.
- Communicates with supervisor on any problems related to environmental systems or equipment encountered on project sites.
- Prepares reports documenting field investigations and analytical results.
- Performs research, assessment and special calculations for the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental hazards.
- Prepares a variety of logs and field forms (such as drilling logs, field investigation dailies, and chain of custody logs).
- Use firm’s field testing equipment including a nuclear gauge with proficiency.
- Leads tasks associated with the preparation and modification of various engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, cost estimates and designs for projects.
- Performs and manages tasks within specific budgets and schedules. May track task and project budgets.
- Coordinates the work of staff engineers, interns and others who assist in specific assignments as needed.
- Reviews the work product prepared by staff prior to submittal to management.
- Remains current on engineering practices, guidelines, regulations, and best management practices and attends internal training to expand knowledge and skills.
- Maintains an understanding of in-house resources and external sources of information and regulatory requirements; keeps up to date on changing regulatory requirements as they affect our projects. This includes working knowledge of Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).
- This position requires a Master’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or another closely related field of study plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering occupation.
