Parsons District Schools Substitute Teacher

Parsons District Schools is a 4A school district located in southeast Kansas. The city of Parsons is about 10,000 people. There is one high school, one middle school (grades 6-8), and three elementary buildings. Lincoln School is PreK, kindergarten and first grade. Garfield School is for grades two and three and Guthridge School is home to grades four and five.

The sub daily rate is $140 per day for a full day. Our district utilizes an automated program (Frontline) that allows substitute teachers to search for jobs online.

A substitute license is required. The minimum requirement to apply for license is 60 college hours. The process is online through Kansas State Department of Education.

Click on the Kansas Licensure Application System link under Ready to Apply #1 at the bottom and follow the steps to set up a New User account. Once your account is set up and you are logged in you will need to fill out the Emergency Sub License form which is form
8. Once the form is submitted you should be prompted to pay online which is $63.

The state requires a background check. We have fingerprint cards at the District Office. The police department can complete the fingerprints for $10. Be sure you have all required information completed on the card. Send the fingerprint card, a check for $50 for the background clearance, and a copy of an official transcript verifying at least 60 college hours to this address:

Transcripts can also be sent electronically from the college/university to etranscripts. Official paper transcripts should be mailed directly to you, leave them in the sealed envelope, and include them with the application. Paper transcripts issued to student are not acceptable. A printout of an electronic transcript is unofficial and not acceptable.

Once all of your information is received it takes approx 6 weeks before you will be issued a license.
