Position Summary
Modelers are responsible for coordinating the collection of data such as verbal instructions, sketches and drawings, or engineering specifications, and incorporating this information into working plans, layouts and detailed drawings. The Modeler will also be responsible for following current company procedures and standards to ensure drawings are completed with quality and consistency.
LocationFull Time, Technical. Baxter Springs, KS, US.
Duties and Responsibilities- Work from notes, verbal instructions, sketches and drawings, or engineering specifications; consolidate the information to prepare working plans, layouts and detailed drawings.
- Review the design and help resolve details not completely defined.
- Determine the best combination of all preliminary information and contributing data to develop the final design.
- Develop specifications, designs, or drawings using engineering principles, established company standards, procedures, and instructions.
- Follow best practices, policies and procedures in the design, layout, and documentation of all company products; may include making models, drawings, assemblies, and Bill of Materials using the CAD system and other computer tools.
- Follow all company CAD best practices for model creation, drawing creation, file management, and revision control.
- Verify completed work; check dimensions, bills of materials, materials to be used, quantities, processing information, and adherence to best practices.
- Make reasonable and sound decisions to meet budgets (both labor and cost) and deadlines.
- Provide scheduling, costing and technical information concerning the designs supported, as well as status updates and information to internal departments and external vendors affected by design development.
- Resolve mechanical and fabrication problems with designed or purchased parts used in a design; assure that any changes are documented and prepared in accordance with engineering change procedures in a timely manner.
- Provide regular feedback and updates to project team members and immediate supervisor about the status of design tasks.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate complex commercial or technical information.
- Demonstrated proficiency with G‑Suite, MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Proficient in 2D AutoCAD and Inventor 3D modeling.
- Solid problem‑solving skills.
- Able to manage multitasking work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Able to work proactively and independently on a broad variety of projects.
- Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in the course of work.
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet job requirements.
Associates Degree or Technical Certification required. Minimum of 3 years of experience.
