Maintenance Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

* Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

* Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

* Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

* Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.

* Repairs or replaces defective parts.

* Installs special functional and structural parts in devices, Lubricates and cleans parts.

* Starts devices to test their performance.

* Sets up and operates welding machine, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

* Initiates purchase requisition for parts and machines.

* Repairs electrical equipment.

EDUCATION AND/OR

EXPERIENCE:

* High school diploma or equivalent.

* General knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical presses, electronics, and wiring.

LANGUAGE

SKILLS:

* Ability to read and interpret CST and customer prints and documents.

* Ability to write routine reports in a professional manner.

MATHEMATICAL

SKILLS:

* Ability to calculate figures such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

REASONING ABILITY:

* Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

* The employee is frequently required to walk.

* Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

* The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit.

* Climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.

* The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

* Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

* Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

* Required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.
