Position Summary:** Union Operators perform job tasks based on the
heavy equipment they operate and the construction work being performed.
Union Operator Duties And Responsibilities- Operate and maneuver heavy construction equipment, such as telehandlers, excavators, skid steers, backhoes, directional drills, tractors, bulldozers, and cranes in a safe and effective manner.
- Ensure equipment is properly shut down and stored securely when not in use.
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Load and unload equipment from vehicles and trailers.
- Complete required paperwork, forms, and records as required.
- Obeys and follows all safety rules on the job site and encourages others to do the same. This includes wearing protective gear and maintaining active communication with all other construction crew members.
- Coordinate machine actions with crew members in response to hand or audio signals.
- Ability to operate equipment effectively and within the equipment's operating capabilities to ensure deadlines of the job are met.
- Maintains a good relationship with co-workers and works well with others to accomplish a task.
- Ability to work without close supervision once directed on task.
- Education requirements are based on union specifications and job site-specific requirements.
- Have a valid driver's license or identification card issued within the United States.
- Must be able to pass site-specific background checks and drug screens.
- Any required certification(s) to operate designated equipment.
Physical Requirements:
** While performing the duties of Union Operator, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit for extended periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Union Operator Work Environment:
** While performing the duties of Union Operator, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.#J-18808-Ljbffr
