Our client, a growing high-tech manufacturing organization is seeking a Plant Controller to provide hands-on financial support to its manufacturing operations. This is an individual contributor role with significant visibility to plant leadership and responsibility for cost accounting, inventory, financial reporting, and operational analysis.

The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing accounting experience and be comfortable working directly with operations in a fast-paced plant environment.

Compensation: $160k to $180k base + bonus + comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the day-to-day financial partner to plant and operations leadership
  • Provide visibility into labor, material, overhead, subcontracting costs, and other manufacturing expenses
  • Prepare and communicate financial results, variance analysis, and operational KPIs
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial planning and forecasting activities
  • Partner with senior finance leadership to ensure plant-level financial activity aligns with broader business objectives
  • Own and maintain standard costing for materials, labor, overhead, and subcontracting
  • Prepare journal entries and perform inventory and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Analyze gross margin, cost of sales, inventory trends, turnover, and production yields
  • Analyze manufacturing variances, including production variances and purchase price variances
  • Support P&L forecasting and manufacturing cost analysis
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
  • Coordinate and execute physical inventory counts with manufacturing teams
  • Reconcile physical inventory to the ERP and investigate discrepancies
  • Review inventory and vendor reconciliations and ensure appropriate follow-up
  • Monitor inventory movements and communicate financial impacts to plant leadership
  • Support strong inventory controls and accounting processes
  • Perform detailed cost-of-sales and margin analysis
  • Analyze product and customer profitability
  • Review transactions driving P&L results across accounts and cost centers
  • Maintain operational reporting and KPI dashboards
  • Translate financial results into actionable insights for non-finance business partners
  • Support timely month-end close, including production order settlement and review
  • Maintain standard costs, activity rates, overhead rates, and annual cost roll processes
  • Utilize SAP to support day-to-day financial and operational processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and financial controls
  • Support SOX compliance and maintain a strong internal control environment
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong cost accounting and manufacturing accounting experience
  • Hands‑on experience with standard costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing variances
  • SAP experience required
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and SOX requirements
  • Experience analyzing labor, material, overhead, production, and purchasing variances
  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently as an individual contributor
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner effectively with plant/operations leadership
  • Semiconductor, electronics, or other high‑mix manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Adaptive Insights or a comparable planning/forecasting platform is a plus
  • CPA or CMA is a plus
