Department Laboratory Technician II - Dental

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday through Friday  |  8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Key Responsibilities

* Prepares and maintains lab equipment and supplies in conformation with infections control policies and procedures as outlined by OHSA and the American Dental Association guidelines.

* Ensures that safety checks of the laboratory are performed prior to lunch breaks and the end of the day (to be completed after the last student departs, when possible).

* Assists in identifying hazardous equipment, materials, and non-participant students with day-to-day cleaning responsibilities.

* Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as necessary or assists in contacting the appropriate agency or vendor to ensure timely repairs.

* Tracks budget expenditures and creates purchase orders.

* Ensures custodial services and supplies have been provided for the classroom.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

* Completion of an accredited dental assistant or dental hygiene program

* Possession of Dental Assistant Infection Control and Radiography Certificate

* One year of related experience

* Valid American Heart Association BLS Card (CPR Card)

* Or willing to obtain within 3 months of employment

Preferred Qualifications

* Possession of Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) Certificate or State of California Dental Hygiene License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge Of

* Dental laboratory and dental clinic equipment, materials, supplies, and procedures appropriate for handling the aforementioned items in the assigned area

* Elementary stock control methods

* Laboratory safety and fire prevention

* Sterilization, preparation and storage of dental clinic and laboratory supplies and equipment

Ability To

* Provide guidance to students

* Plan and organize workload so that laboratory materials are available and set up at appropriate times

* Keep records and carry out complex oral and written instructions

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and instructors

* Work with students in a multiethnic environment

* Complete tasks independently with minimal oversight
