Position

Designer/Maker position just opened up in Pasadena, CA at JPL/NASA facility. In this role you will bring hands‑on making, spatial thinking, and physical design expertise to the Creative Studio. This role supports the development of physical experiences, installations, prototypes, and on‑site builds, blending industrial design sensibility with practical execution.

Location: Pasadena, CA 91109 (Must be local; onsite needed)
Position: Presentation Designer
Pay Rate: $51–94/hour DOE
Duration: 18 months or longer
Schedule: Part Time/As Needed

Requirements: Must be local; onsite needed. A portfolio will be required to be submitted for the position.

The Designer Maker will bring hands‑on making, spatial thinking, and physical design expertise to the Creative Studio. This role supports the development of physical experiences, installations, prototypes, and on‑site builds, blending industrial design sensibility with practical execution.

• Design and build physical artifacts, prototypes, and spatial elements
• Support on‑site fabrication, installation, and hands‑on problem solving
• Apply industrial and spatial design thinking to communication challenges
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and fabricators
• Translate and communicate conceptual ideas to stakeholders
• Maintain safety, quality, and efficiency in making processes

• Background in industrial design, spatial design, or fabrication
• Strong hands‑on making and building skills
• Comfort working on‑site and adapting in real time
• Expertise in materials, processes, and construction
• Resourceful, solutions‑oriented, and self‑directed approach

Our client is a research and development lab federally funded by NASA and managed by Caltech. It manages many of NASA’s robotic missions exploring Earth, the solar system, and our universe.
