Job Summary

Starting Pay Range $24.00 - $39.50 per hour, depending on experience.

General

Summary:

The Adapted PE Teacher will provide services to students with disabilities who cannot participate without support in general physical education classes consistent with each student’s individualized education plan.

The areas of services needed are:
Aliso Viejo, Anaheim Hills, Compton, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Glendale, La Habra, Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, Santa Ana, Upland, Westminster and Yorba Linda.

• Provide adapted physical education instruction to meet student needs and goals as specified on the IEP, including physical fitness, gross motor skills, perceptual motor skills, sports, and games achievement.
• Provide individualized assessment and instruction in neuromotor development, gross motor skills and abilities, physical fitness, games and sports, and other recreation and leisure activities.
• Provide consultation and training to parents and staff regarding adapted physical education techniques.
• Document student progress and present levels of performance by standardized, formal, curriculum‑based, anecdotal, and/or teacher‑made assessments.
• Seek technical assistance and consultation as needed from colleagues, program support specialists, and the Special Education Leadership Team.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
• Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and community.
• Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.

• BA/BS Degree.
• Valid California Teaching Credential in Adapted Physical Education.
